Karnataka has become the first state in the country to launch ‘Punyakoti Dattu Scheme’. Under which anyone can adopt cows. Animal Husbandry Minister Prabhu B Chavan has adopted 31 cows in government and private gaushalas in the state. Talking in this regard, he told that his aim of adopting cows is to nurture and take care of them.

How to Adopt a Cow under Punyakoti Dattu Yojana
- First of all the eligible beneficiary has to go to the official website.
- Now you have to click on Adopt a cow option.
- After that you will come to the next page.
- Now you have to choose the cow you want to adopt.
- After selecting the type of cow, you have to select the breed.
- Then you have to select the age of the cow by marking the relevant box.
- Then there will be option of choice of entry type or desired cow.
- Animals whether they have been in cowsheds since birth, rescued, abandoned, confiscated or belonged to a farmer, will be fed.
- Now you have to select the checkbox at the bottom of the Adoption section.
- Then you have to select the district, after that you have to click on the search button.
- You will now be presented with a list of cows, from which you can select one by clicking the Adopt button below the image.
- After the photo is taken, a website will load with information about the cow, including its breed, sex, age, date of birth and entry type, as well as the name of the cowshed.
- You will then have the option of adopting the cow for a period of three months, six months, nine months or one to five years.
- Selecting any one year will get the amount displayed in the box below.
- You will then need to provide your personal information, such as your cell phone number, full name and email address.

How to feed cow through portal
- First of all the eligible beneficiary has to go to the official website.
- Now you have to click on the option of Feed A Cow.
- After that you have to select a district first by selecting the dropdown menu.
- Then a list of districts will open in front of you with the name of the cowshed and the number of cows.
- Now you have the option to choose how many cows and how many days of fodder you want.
- You have to select the number of cows and fodder and then click on pay now button.
- A pop-up window with the name of payment details will open.
- In which you will be shown the total number of cattle selected and the total amount you will need to pay.
- Now you have to fill personal details like 10 digit mobile number, your name and your email id.
- Then you have to click on confirm the terms and agreements.
- After this you have to click on the pay button.
- After that you will be directed to a page from where you can make payment through online mode.
- After successful payment you will be given an e-receipt and you can also download that e-receipt.
How to donate cow to Gaushala through portal
- First of all the eligible beneficiary has to go to the official website.
- Now you have to click on the option of “donate to a Gaushala”.
- After that you have to select a district first by selecting the dropdown menu.
- Then after selecting the district below automatically a list of Gaushala will come along with the image.

- After clicking on the donate button, you will be presented with the story of the cow shelter, which will contain all the relevant information about the cow shelter.
