The Kerala Athidhi Portal has been launched by the state government for the welfare of the migrant workers of the state of Kerala. All the workers of the state will be registered under this portal. Labor Minister V Sivankutty suggested that the officials of the labor department should work on a war footing and complete the registration. Not a single employee should remain unregistered on the portal. The minister informed that the registration process would be completed in time by involving more officers and volunteers in collaboration with other departments.

On July 28, a five-year-old girl who was abducted from Aluva in Ernakulam district was allegedly brutally raped and murdered by a migrant worker from Bihar. The child’s family is also a resident of the same state. In another incident, on August 4, the Malappuram police arrested a 36-year-old man, a migrant laborer from Madhya Pradesh, for sexually abusing a minor child, who is a resident there.

In such a situation, such a case has also come from Kerala, where recently there have been two sexual crimes against children by migrant workers. This is the reason why the Kerala government is starting the guest worker registration process on the Athidhi portal. So that every migrant can get a unique identification number and crime cases can be stopped in the state.
