The Marriage Assistance Scheme is launched by the Government of Tamil Nadu. This scheme provides financial assistance during marriage to deserving families. Under this scheme, the government provides various types of assistance to the daughters of poor parents of the state, orphan girls, remarried widows, widowed daughter marriage, or inter-caste married couples to help families eligible for marriage. Objective of Tamil Nadu Marriage Assistance Scheme

The main objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the eligible families at the time of marriage by the government.

Types of Tamil Nadu Marriage Assistance Yojana

Under the Tamil Nadu Marriage Assistance Scheme, the government has started 5 types of schemes, the details of which are as follows –

  1. Dr. Dharmambal Amaiyar Ninaivu Widow Remarriage Assistance Scheme

Widows who remarry will get the benefit of this scheme. Under this scheme, financial assistance of Rs 25000 will be provided to the eligible beneficiary. Out of which Rs 15000 will be given through Direct Benefit Transfer and Rs 10000 through National Saving Certificate as well as 4 gm 22 carat gold coin for making Thirumangalam. The benefit of the scheme will be given to all those beneficiaries who have a degree or diploma, they will be provided a total assistance of Rs 50000, Out of which Rs 30000 will be given through Direct Benefit Transfer and Rs 20,000 will be given for manufacturing of 4 grams 22 carat gold coin along with National Savings Certificate. No income limit or educational qualification has been set by the government to get the benefit of this scheme.

  1. Moolvalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Ninavu Marriage Assistance scheme

Financial assistance of Rs 25000 or Rs 50000 is provided to the beneficiary through this scheme. Financial assistance of Rs 25000 is provided when the bride has passed 10th. standard. (Bride must have studied class 5th in case of Scheduled Tribes). If the bride has done a diploma from a regular college, distance education or an open university recognized by the government or an institution recognized by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, then in this case Rs 50000 will be provided to the applicant. To take advantage of this scheme, the annual income of the eligible family should not exceed Rs 72000.

  1. Annai Therasa Ninaivu Marriage Assistance Scheme for Orphan Girls

The benefit of this scheme will be given by the government at the time of marriage of orphan girls. Under this scheme, financial assistance of Rs 25,000 will be provided to high school pass beneficiaries and Rs 50,000 to degree or diploma pass beneficiaries. No income limit has been set to take advantage of this scheme.

  1. E.V.R Maniammaiyar Ninaivu Marriage Assistance Scheme for Daughters of Poor widows

The benefit of this scheme will be provided to the daughters of poor widows. Through this scheme, financial assistance of Rs 25000 will be provided by the government to those beneficiaries who have passed high school. Apart from this, financial assistance of Rs 50,000 will be provided to the beneficiaries who have degree or diploma. To get the benefit of the scheme, the annual income of the family should not exceed Rs.72000.

  1. Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Ninaivu Inter Caste Marriage Assistance Scheme

The benefit of this scheme will be provided in case of inter-caste marriage. Cash assistance of Rs 25000 is provided through this scheme out of which Rs 15000 will be given as Direct Benefit Transfer and Rs 10000 as National Savings Certificate for making Tirumangalam with 4 grams 22 carat gold coin. Degree or Diploma holders will get financial assistance of Rs 50000, out of which Rs 30000 will be given as Direct Benefit Transfer and Rs 20000 as National Savings Certificate to the eligible beneficiary for making Thirumangalam with 4 gm 22 carat gold coin will be provided

There is no income limit or minimum education qualification for availing this scheme. Inter-caste marriages are divided into two categories. In Category 1, one of the inter-caste married couple must be from a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe while the other spouse can be from any other community. In Category 2, one of the spouses should be from forward or other community and the other spouse should be from BC/MBC.

  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of Tamil Nadu state
  • The applicant must be a widow to take advantage of the scheme.
  • There is no income limit or educational qualification prescribed for this scheme.
  1. Moolvalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Ninavu Marriage Assistance Scheme
  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of Tamil Nadu state
  • The minimum educational criteria of the applicant should be class 10th. in case of general category and 5th. class in case of scheduled tribe.
  • The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed Rs.72000
  1. Annai Therasa Ninaivu Marriage Assistance Scheme for Orphan Girls
  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of Tamil Nadu
  • Only orphan girls are eligible to take advantage of this scheme.
  • Applicant should have passed High School in case of General Category and Class 5th. in case of ST
  • There is no income limit for availing the benefits of the scheme.
  1. E.V.R Maniammaiyar Ninaivu Marriage Assistance Scheme for Daughters of Poor Widows
  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of Tamil Nadu
  • Only poor widow daughters are eligible to take advantage of this scheme.
  • The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed Rs.72000
  1. Dr Muthulakshmi Reddy Ninaivu Inter Caste Marriage Assistance Scheme
  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of Tamil Nadu
  • This scheme can be availed in case of inter-caste marriage.
